Calibration testing

Calibration testing is the core process in which a measuring instrument—referred to as the Device under Test (DUT)—is compared against a known, traceable, and highly accurate reference standard to identify measurement errors. Known input values (such as pressure, temperature, voltage, or current) are applied at multiple points across the instrument’s operating range (e.g., 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%), and the DUT’s readings are evaluated against allowable tolerances. If required, adjustments are made to bring the instrument within specification, and all results are formally documented on a calibration certificate.
